EFT International (formerly AAMET) EFT Level 1 training
Update: In order to focus my time on work with clients, I will no longer be offering training in EFT.
However, many other EFT International trainers are now offering their training courses live online, so if you go to eftinternational.org, and search there, you should be able to find online provision for whatever level of course you are interested in :)
The Overview tab has general information on all levels of training.
The EFT Level 1 course I offer takes place over two days. PLEASE NOTE, Level 1 training is not training to use EFT professionally, but for yourself, friends and family. If you wish to introduce EFT to professional therapeutic situations, you will also need to attend EFT Level 2.
This first level of EFT is about learning the fundamentals of EFT to help ourselves and others. Whether you want to learn EFT to help with yourself, your friends and family, your therapy work or your business, or just because you're curious as to what this 'tapping' thing is, we all start at the same place. In my own practice, I have found that simplicity is the key to effective EFT, and my goal in Level 1 is to ensure that you can grasp and use EFT in all its beautiful simplicity, with skill and confidence.
In this very practical training I will teach you EFT to calm anxiety and irritation, to ease cravings, and to release the emotional tension that can contribute to physical symptoms. We will also begin to look at how to work with EFT to ease the emotional response to memories of intense events (more in-depth work on this in Level 2). There are multiple demonstrations and practice sessions during the weekend, so that you can leave ready to start bringing EFT into your life.
We will cover:
- Introducing EFT and development of EFT
- The 'Basic Recipe' and shortcuts.
- Psychological reversal.
- 'Aspects' and the importance of being specific.
- Testing the changes.
- Handling emotional intensity.
- The Movie Technique.
- Using EFT for aches and pains.
- Using EFT for stressful memories.
- Using EFT for cravings.
- What to do when you get stuck.
Those who wish to learn how to use EFT in a more in-depth way, and/or in professional therapeutic situations, and/or who wish to become accredited EFT practitioners, can then go on to do the Level 2 EFT training. You may be perfectly happy with what you learn at Level 1, and that is absolutely fine - there is no requirement that you progress any further if you do not feel the need, unless you wish to use EFT professionally.
Why is the course two days, when some other Level 1s are a single day?
You can do quicker EFT training if that’s what you want, but I like to think you can't do it much better. I did my initial EFT training, Levels 1 and 2, over three days straight, and I later repeated Levels 1 and 2 over two separate weekends. I can say from experience that I would have been a much better and more confident practitioner in my early days if I had had a) a longer Level 1 training, and b) some time between the two levels. Of course, at the time, I just wanted to get on and get it done, get practising. And you may feel the same, in which case, there are other trainers who offer a one-day EFT Level 1. It is now EFT Interational's strong recommendation, however, that Level 1 take place over 2 days, and my course is in line with that.
For myself, I firmly believe that a good solid grounding, with time to assimilate what is learned before moving on, makes for a more effective and confident practitioner of EFT. So this is what I offer, because I want you to be as good as you can be! I want to give you plenty of time for practice, plenty of time for questions, and plenty of time to see EFT demonstrated in action. I also want to give you some information that I found invaluable in understanding how we experience intense life events. All that is simply not possible in just one day. And so my EFT Level 1 training is two days.
I am a registered trainer with EFT International (EFTi), the lead body for EFT training and registration in the UK and Europe, and my trainings offer EFTi certification at each level.
